It’s no question that 2022 was a banner year for the Cleveland Cavaliers, but that doesn’t mean that it was perfect, either. Running an NBA team is not a pass/fail endeavor, but rather a series of positives and negatives that you try to direct in an upward direction.

Dan Favale of Bleacher Report identified each NBA team’s biggest regret of 2022. While many teams committed more heinous crimes, the Cavs were one of the easiest teams to pick. In the midst of a number of great decisions, from the Donovan Mitchell trade to the Dean Wade extension, their biggest regret of 2022 was trading for Caris LeVert.

That isn’t to say that LeVert hasn’t been good, but his strengths are too redundant on a team with Mitchell and Darius Garland and he doesn’t add enough off the ball. Giving up a first-round pick, a second and precluding a different move stands out as a below-average move and, as Favale picks, the Cavs’ biggest regret of 2022.

As the year of 2023 begins many people are making their New Year’s Resolutions. Mine include eating less dessert, reading 50 novels and getting together with friends more often. For the Cleveland Cavaliers, Glenn Minnis wrote two resolutions for the team heading into the year.

The start of the year is also a time for bold predictions. For myself, I boldly predict I will lose 15 pounds and raise my 3-point percentage to 20 percent in pickup ball. The Cleveland Cavaliers are due for some as well, as we detailed for the site with 5 bold predictions for 2023.

NBA news

Nikola Jokic continues to defy history as one of the most offensively potent centers in league history. His run for a third-straight MVP is dazzling to watch, and he notched his latest win last night with a line of 30 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists to lead Denver over the Boston Celtics.

In more shocking news, the Milwaukee Bucks hosted the Washington Wizards and were absolutely waxed to the tune of a 118-95 loss. Milwaukee was without its star trio, but the Wizards won without Bradley Beal. Rui Hachimura had a career night with 26 points and Kyle Kuzma had a triple double.
