While NBA teams are allowed to trade players throughout the start of the season, it’s rare for teams to make moves early in the season. The Cleveland Cavaliers were one of the few exceptions when they were a part of the James Harden four-team trade two years ago. Still, generally speaking, teams spend the first weeks of the year evaluating their own teams before looking to make changes.

As such, December 15 marks the transition point in trade season. While teams don’t suddenly start firing off trades, the eligibility of newly-signed players increases the player pool and makes trades more likely. Trade rumors will only pick up speed between now and the February Trade Deadline, and the Cavs are no exception.

As such, Bleacher Report created a list of three trade targets for every team in the league. These aren’t players linked to those teams necessarily by insider reporting, but rather players rumored to be available that could be a fit for each team.

Bleacher Report lists 3 trade targets for the Cleveland Cavaliers to look into. Should the Cavs pass or pursue these players?

The Cavs aren’t in dire need of a change but as a potential contender, they need to look at every opportunity to improve, even if at the margins. Let’s look at these three potential trade targets and ask the question of whether the player’s fit and cost make them worth pursuing, or if the Cavs should pass on the opportunity for a trade.
