On December 15 these Cavs become eligible to trade

The players who are becoming eligible to trade on Dec 15 are those who signed new free-agent contracts this summer. That doesn’t include two-way contracts, so the Cavs therefore have three additions coming available on Thursday.

Ricky Rubio counts on this list because he technically was on the Indiana Pacers for the last few months of last season, despite his absence recovering from his torn ACL. He returned to the Cavs this summer, signing a three-year deal that took up most of the Taxpayer Mid-level Exception. He has not yet made his season debut, but was recently cleared for 5-on-5 work.

Raul Neto was accordingly signed to serve as the backup point guard while Rubio was out. The journeyman guard from Brazil came to the Cavs by way of Washington, where he was a solid defensive guard for the Wizards. He signed to a minimum deal in the offseason.

Also signing a minimum deal was Robin Lopez, who was on the Wizards in 2020-21 before spending a season at Disney World with the Orlando Magic as a reserve center. He joined the Cavs to be their fifth big, and he has provided some solid minutes when Jarrett Allen or another big man is out.
