Ranking all 32 players in Cavs vs Lakers: Which Roster is Best?

The Lakers have the two best players in the game tonight, which should suggest they have the roster advantage over the Cavs. The problem with that conclusion is what happens next on the list; the Cavs have the next eight players on the list, and it’s not like they don’t have stars of their own.

If the Lakers are to win, then, they need superhuman performances from their two stars and at least one of their role players to pop. The Cavs, instead, are just relying on their players to be themselves, because normally good games from their top eight will equal a win on most nights.

That’s the problem with building a roster like the Lakers have; if James or Davis has a bad game, or a bad stretch of games, or is out, then it falls apart like a house of cards. This roster at spots 3-16 is one of the very worst in the league. The Cavs, on the other hand, have starter-level players going down to their 10th man.

The Cavs have a better roster and will have a better season, but does that mean they will win tonight? Perhaps, but they are missing multiple key players due to injury and so the gap is balanced out. If Anthony Davis detonates again, it could be the Lakers walking away with a win. If not, the depth of the Cavs could overwhelm the cracks in the Lakers’ roster.
