Part of the fun of following a team is dreaming about trade possibilities. The Cleveland Cavaliers are no exception, with dreams of landing a big star coming to fruition this summer when Donovan Mitchell and only spurring more dreaming. Can the Cavs make another move?

There are certainly options, especially if the Cavs are willing to move Caris LeVert or Isaac Okoro. Perhaps they could find a trade partner to flip one of those shooting guards into more of a pure 3. Yet those possibilities are, by definition, unlikely.

A much more likely option is to make a tiny deal on the margins, one that would bring joy to the fan base and only improve the team’s chemistry.

There is a fun trade idea to move the Cavs’ worst player for a fan favorite

Our friends over at Bleacher Report often cook up interesting trade ideas, and they ran another article recently that tossed out a unique trade idea for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Rather than try to move heaven and earth to reshape the roster, this would simply exchange a pair of players at the back of each team’s rosters. Take a look:

Every Cavs fan will likely recognize the name of Matthew Dellavedova. The veteran Australian guard played 4.5 seasons with the Cavaliers, joining the team as an undrafted point guard in 2013-14 and winning a title in 2016. In the 2015 NBA Finals he had the game of his life filling in for the injured Kyrie Irving, carrying league MVP Stephen Curry and making some wild shots to put his name firmly into Cavs lore.

At this point in his career, Dellavedova has very little to offer a team on the court, but he is a proven veteran with success playing in the NBA and internationally. The Sacramento Kings brought him in this offseason to serve as emergency depth in the backcourt, but they hit on virtually every move they made and are absolutely stacked at both guard positions.

Perhaps they would be willing to part with him to take a flier on a wing that needs a new home. Dylan Windler hasn’t been able to get his career off the ground in Cleveland, with injury after injury plaguing him. The Kings could use a wing, and it wouldn’t cost them much to take a low-risk swing at Windler.

The Cavs could add Dellavedova’s experience and camaraderie. The team has had remarkable chemistry all season, and adding another all-in veteran who has been through fire before can only help. The trade would also save the Cavs money, giving them some breathing room in another trade or in filling their final roster spot.

Next. Can the Cavs get a good return out of possibly trading Caris LeVert?. dark

Everyone would love to have Delly back in a Cavs uniform where he belongs. Windler can get a fresh start, the Cavaliers get a familiar face back in town and everyone comes out a winner.
