Reason No. 2: LeVert’s game is suffering this season

The biggest issue for LeVert’s offensive game at this point of the season is that his shooting has been suffering. His field goal percentages are down overall, as his field goal hit rate is 37%, which is below his career 43% average. While his three-point shooting is a bit up close to 40% while attempting an average of four three pointers a game, his two-point shooting has really taken a hit so far. For taking an average seven two pointers a game, he’s only hitting 35% of them.

For his career, LeVert has never been below 45% on two-pointers, and he’s been above 50% a couple times during various previous seasons. While he’s doing better from three, it has been noticeable that the two-point shot has suffered a bit more. Interestingly, home cooking doesn’t seem to be helping him much this year, either. His overall field goal percentage is only at 27% in home games, and his scoring average is only nine points as well at home while it’s at 14.4 per outing on the road.

The highs and lows of LeVert’s season has also been a big issue so far this season. The highlight reel of his best game happened a few weeks ago when he totaled 41 points in a big win at the Celtics but many more of his games have been void of anything dramatic or even consistent.

That big game against the Celtics may have given Cleveland fans a false sense of LeVert’s capabilities. Since that game he’s had four games where he scored no more than four points in a game; that swing in points is significant.

Maybe LeVert has been pressing and forcing some shots. In the game that followed that impressive performance at Boston, LeVert had one of his worst games. He scored one point and went 0-for-9 from the floor in a game against the New York Knicks while playing 29 minutes.
