The Cleveland Cavaliers have been a powerhouse at the start of this season. So far, they have only suffered one loss since opening night and are sitting as the 2nd seed in the Eastern Conference at 8-2. The Cavs have also done it without their star point guard for six games. This has allowed many of their bench players to have the opportunity to step up, and many of them have succeeded in those opportunities.

The bench has been amazing, but could it still be improved?

The Cleveland Cavaliers have a deep rotation, but with an open roster spot could they improve even more? Which two veteran free agents could the Cavs sign?

There is one roster spot open for the Cavs. At the moment, the only question the Cavs have had is their starting small forward spot. Caris LeVert seems to have been the answer to that question in the early going. They are fine at point guard with Darius Garland, Ricky Rubio coming down the line and Raul Neto as the backup two right now.

Their shooting guard spot is great with Donovan Mitchell, Isaac Okoro, and Dylan Windler. The small forward spot consists of Caris LeVert, Dean Wade, and Cedi Osman. The power forward spot is being held by Evan Mobley, Kevin Love, and Lamar Stevens. The centers are Jarrett Allen and Robin Lopez.

Currently, the Cavs’ starting lineup consists of Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell in the backcourt, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen in the frontcourt and Caris LeVert on the wing. The Cavaliers could use free agency to improve the bench, but none of the free agents will be replacing any of the starters unless it is because of injury.

I believe there are two players who could be beneficial for the Cavs if given the opportunity. These two free agents are older veterans, and the Cavs could possibly help give both of them their first ring this season. Let’s start with Carmelo Anthony.
