3 high value bets to place on Cavs before the 2022-23 NBA season
3 can’t miss bets on Cavs: Kevin Love to win Sixth Man of the Year (+4000)
Last season Kevin Love bounced back from a number of injury-plagued campaigns and logged a strong year coming off the bench, shooting at a high level and playing off of Ricky Rubio to form one of the best bench pairings in the NBA. Even without Rubio the stretch-big was impressive.
That led to a second-place finish in Sixth Man of the Year voting. Such a strong finish would likely suggest he would be among the preseason favorites for the award heading into this season. That is not the case, however, leading to an opportunity for betters to back the Cavs big man.
Love is just +4000 to win Sixth Man of the Year, which is 18th in the league. He is behind unproven players (Bones Hyland, Immanuel Quickley) and plenty of players in line to start, including Anfernee Simons and Cameron Johnson. Love will have the same role as last season, and with the starting backcourt being so defensively challenged would be a longshot to start even if Evan Mobley were to miss time.
Some of the top candidates have strong cases, starting with Jordan Poole, but that just means Love shouldn’t be the favorite. If Love has the 18th-best odds but should be ranked somewhere in the 4-7 range, there is tremendous value for any bettor to take advantage of.
