This is area Cavs have to consider, regarding the starting 3 outlook

Wade and Stevens’ defense could be sellers for them, too, and seem like good fits

Now, when it comes to internal solutions, if Okoro can emerge offensively, that could make a difference, but I’d rather he be a sub, personally, and if tough decisions had to be made involving him, oh well.

From there, in LeVert’s case, it’s just difficult for me to buy him meshing with both Garland and Mitchell consistently, and I’d rather him be a de facto bench playmaking presence. Conversely, if he were to end up being moved down the road as a potential expiring trade piece, so be it.

As for others, while Osman should receive some opportunities off the bench, if he’s around (given trade rumors throughout the offseason), his defensive issues are always concerning. And despite Windler being an impactful rebounder, he’s had injury woes with Cleveland, and is currently dealing with a minor ankle sprain, and missed the first preseason game. It’s difficult to foresee him being consistently a rotation guy.

Anyway, as I was alluding to throughout here, I’m well aware there’s other things involved in the decision, but defensive rebounding help from the starting 3 would be nice for the Cavs, and that should be considered, too.

Both seem like long shots, however, the recently-extended Wade and Stevens could aid the team there, more than Lauri Markkanen last season from a positional sense, even, and with their defensive abilities, one of those two might be the best call, ultimately. They might equate to better fits than other options, with their defense of a number of opposing forwards in mind, too.

One of these roster cut candidates could fill Cavs last spot. dark. Next

Again, I’d still expect Okoro or LeVert to eventually get the nod, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that’d last. Some real growth from Stevens as a deep shooter could play into that potentially, as well, if the opportunities were to arise for him to demonstrate his offseason work.
