Just like Spring Training in MLB, training camp in the NFL, or even spring games in college football, the preseason always gives fans a little preview of what’s to come during the regular season. That is no different in the NBA, as there are a lot of things to look forward to in the Cleveland Cavaliers‘ preseason schedule. After making a blockbuster trade that brought three-time All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell to Cleveland, a lot of eyes will be on the Cavaliers this season, especially in the next week or two.

Cleveland has two preseason games versus the Philadelphia 76ers on Oct. 5 and 10, with the first on the road and the second at home. From there, they host the Atlanta Hawks on Oct. 12, and wrap up 2022 preseason play at the Orlando Magic on Oct. 14. All games are at 7 PM EST.

Even though the Cavs have a young and talented roster, there are still a couple of things to watch for before the regular season begins. With the addition of Mitchell, the Cavs have three All-Stars in the starting lineup, along with Evan Mobley, who has a very good chance to earn his first nod this season.

With that being said, who will fill that fifth spot in the starting lineup? On top of that, fans should be anxious to see how much better and more versatile Evan Mobley has become over the offseason. Finally, with Ricky Rubio being out for the majority of the first half of the season it seems, who can handle the rock when Darius Garland and Mitchell need a breather? These are all interesting questions that should have some more clarity once the team finishes their preseason tour.

After shocking the NBA last season, by rising to the top of the Eastern Conference before injuries derailed their playoff push, there will not be a shortage of eyes on the Cavaliers this season. There’s no doubt that at the top, Cleveland has one of the better rosters in the entire NBA.

Without further ado, here’s three things you should be watching for during Cleveland’s preseason slate.
