Roster turnover in the NBA is inevitable. Even teams that prioritize continuity see the back-half of their rosters turn over quickly, and star movement, trades and free agency are constantly reshuffling a team’s makeup. This year’s Cavs are no exception.

The Cleveland Cavaliers of 2021-22 saw 26 players suit up for at least one game. Of those 26, 15 are no longer with the team. That doesn’t even include Ricky Rubio, who was traded away and then returned to the Cavs in free agency to settle “unfinished business.” The Cavs are one of the most static teams in the league, and they still had a fair amount of turnover. Very few players can expect to stay on the same team year over year.

Roster turnover is inevitable in the NBA and for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Which players on the Cavs this year won’t be on the team by next season?

With that in mind, let’s examine the current roster. The “core 4” of young stars will almost certainly be around next season, but what about the remainder of the players around them? Who might still be on the roster in 2023-24, and who is a strong bet to be wearing another jersey by this time next year?

From the 14 players currently on the roster, here are the three players most likely to be playing for another team next season. The actual roster turnover could be even greater, but we’ll keep it to three. We’ve also excluded the two-way players as by definition they are more transient. We’ll start in the point guard room.
