How many players would Cavs trade Evan Mobley for? Top 50 players

Your mileage may vary on how good of a player Evan Mobley is right now. Most advanced metrics placed him somewhere in the 50-100 range last year, which may seem low but still represents an above-average starter. Assuming at least modest growth this year, Mobley should be somewhere in the range of a top-50 player this year.

Does that mean the Cavs would trade Mobley for a comparable player? If the Atlanta Hawks called and offered John Collins, or the Philadelphia 76ers offered Tyrese Maxey, should the Cavs say yes? Of course not. Because Mobley is not a static player, but a budding star on the rise. He won’t stay the 50th best player, and he has the upside to become something most of the players in this range don’t.

That also goes for other young potential stars in this range too. Scottie Barnes, Tyrese Haliburton and Cade Cunningham are all around the same range as Mobley right now, but the Cavs won’t trade him for any of them. Mobley is their pick, they know he fits with the other foundational players they have, and his contract is just as favorable as any of them. The Cavs would have little reason to make a lateral move like that.

Verdict: No
