NBA free agency has been underway for a little under two months now and Cleveland Cavaliers free agent Collin Sexton remains unsigned; he is currently a restricted free agent being extended a qualifying offer, but is still unsigned.

Sexton has had an offer from the Cavs, reportedly worth roughly $40 million over 3 years. Sexton/his representation is rumored to be wanting a deal that would pay him $20 million-plus, or so, per year. Sexton, having appeared in only 11 games last season due to a torn meniscus, makes teams hesitant to offer the hefty asking price.

That being said, Sexton has been valuable to the Cavaliers when he is on the floor posting career averages of 20 points per game, to go with 3.3 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game, with shooting splits of 45.8% from the field and 37.8% from 3-point land. It was prior to his injury last season of course, but Sexton did average 24.3 points and 4.4 assists per outing in the 2020-21 campaign.

With the Cavs’ surprise breakout season last year, it will be interesting to see where Sexton fits in, provided he is back, at least in some capacity. I believe that having him would only be positive to the team rather than a detriment.

With that in mind, in the scenario he is back with the Cavaliers, in this article, I will dissect two possible scenarios Sexton could fall into if he returns to Cleveland for the 2022-23 season, and/or is potentially given a new deal with the team.
