2 goals for Cavs’ Caris LeVert in the 2022-23 season
By Zane Harris
Last year, the Cleveland Cavaliers traded Ricky Rubio, a lottery-protected 2022 pick, a 2022 second-round pick via the Houston Rockets, and a 2027 second-round pick via the Utah Jazz for Caris LeVert and a 2022 second-round pick via the Miami Heat. Cleveland got to retain their first-round pick as they were knocked out of the NBA Play-In tournament after being defeated by the Brooklyn Nets and Atlanta Hawks. As an aside, Rubio is back with the Cavs via free agency.
As it pertains to LeVert, he only played in 19 regular season games with the Cavaliers due to injury. With him not getting too much time to form a lot of on-the-court chemistry with his new Cavalier teammates, LeVert is still trying to find his role with the team.
Currently, it is prior to training camp, but J.B. Bickerstaff and the rest of the Cavaliers coaching staff will reportedly likely start LeVert this season; that will have to be ironed out, though.
He only started in 10 of his 19 games with the Cavs. With players like Isaac Okoro continuing to develop and the Cavaliers selecting Ochai Agbaji with their first-round pick, LeVert might be best suited to come off of the bench for the Cavs this season. Regardless, LeVert should have ample opportunities to make an impact.
If he can remain healthy and able to play this season, he could be a tremendous wing player for the team. There are two major goals for LeVert to meet this season for him to be the player Cleveland needs him to be.
