Cavs category No. 2: Rebounds per game

Projected leader: Evan Mobley

Last season Cavs big man Jarrett Allen led this category with a 10.8 per game average. He was outstanding putting together a double-double between points and rebounds almost nightly. He had 33 games of 10 rebounds or more last year. For a comparison, the rookie sensation in Evan Mobley registered 22 games of going over 10 rebounds on the night.

This season, I think Mobley will outduel Allen for the lead in this category. It’ll be a tight battle for sure and it could come down to a half rebound average difference. Both players will push each other to gain maximum production. Let’s sit back and enjoy watching these two talents battle it out for the claim as rebounding king.

Cavs category No. 3: Assists per game

Projected leader: Darius Garland

This department was won by Darius Garland last season when he averaged 8.6 assists a game. Ricky Rubio, who was injured half way through the year came in second place with 6.6 assists.

It was the most assists by the young Garland in his brief career. I’m not sure if he can top 8.6 but he’ll come close next year. I think other players like Rubio, when he’s back, and Caris LeVert will cut into that Garland average, but he’ll still win the title.

Cavs category No. 4: Blocks per game

Projected leader: Evan Mobley

This again is a two-man competition between Mobley and Allen. Mobley won it during the 2021-22 season with a 1.7 blocks a game average, thanks in large part due to his rare abilities and timing. Mobley had 16 games of having three or more blocks in a game. I predict that he’ll increase that amount as he continues to improve in only his second season in the league.
