3 trade targets for the Cavs: Bojan Bogdanovic, Utah Jazz

The Utah Jazz are in the midst of tearing down their roster to start a rebuild, even if they’re publicly posturing that they may try to “compete” around Donovan Mitchell. That means any of the veterans on the team will be available, and the Cavs could take advantage of the opportunity to leap in and make an offer.

Bojan Bogdanovic has started the last 393 games he has played on both the Utah Jazz and the Indiana Pacers. He has developed from a shooting specialist into a well-rounded combo forward who can score in the post and on the perimeter. The Utah Jazz have had one of the league’s very best offenses the past few seasons, and Bogdanovic was a major part of that success.

He is a career 39.2 percent 3-point shooter, and that has been even higher the past five seasons as a starter. He has done so at a fairly high volume, too. In some senses he is a better-shooting version of Lauri Markkanen. While he isn’t much of a rim protector (just one block in 69 games last season!) he is a better one-on-one defender than Markkanen as well.

Bogdanovic would juice the Cavs’ spacing, whether he started at the 3 or backed up the two forward positions. He is a bit older than the Cavs’ core at 33, but his shooting will age well and he brings a lot of playoff experience to the table. If the Cavs could flip Caris LeVert, or a combo platter of a few bench players and a pick, Bogdanovic would instantly upgrade their depth at their weakest spot.
