What positions would Cavs play on Browns? Evan Mobley – Tight End

Finally, we come to the young phenom, the future NBA superstar, Evan Mobley. What position would he play if he joined the Cleveland Browns for a time? As a seven-footer he faces many of the same issues as Jarrett Allen, but given that his wiry frame would be a tough sell on the offensive line he needs a new place to land.

Mobley’s defensive awareness and length would make him interesting on the defensive side of the ball, but he probably doesn’t have the quick-twitch speed to play cornerback or free safety enough, nor the size or low center of gravity to play linebacker. Therefore we’re going to land on the most popular position for a basketball player, the tight end.

Specifically, Mobley would be the kind of tight end that is very nearly a wide receiver, the giant, athletic receiving tight ends that spend very little time run blocking. Kyle Pitts came into the league last season as a 6’6″ receiving monster, and Mobley could have a similar impact.

His height and length would give him an insane catch radius, and would his leaping ability. His long strides would eat up yardage, and if he ever found the open field, watch out. If Odell Beckham Jr. could make that viral one-handed catch, Mobley could do the same thing but another few feet higher.

The Cavs’ stars are best deployed on a basketball court, and they have already proven to be quite good at it. Even so, in our imaginary world of no injuries, suiting up for the Browns would not only be fun, it could be an example of just how talented these athletes are. Kevin Love to Evan Mobley, touchdown!
