What positions would Cavs play on Browns? Jarrett Allen – Left Tackle

Jarrett Allen is a massive human being, 6’11” with broad shoulders, long arms and that tremendous afro. He is essentially too large for a football field, but his flexibility and strength could allow him to survive at a crucial position in the league: left tackle.

A few NFL tackles in the league right now are 6’9″, so it’s not too much of a stretch to get Allen out on the field. It would be virtually impossible for an edge rusher to get around him, as his lateral agility and long arms would envelop them. Some players will try to get low on him, so he will need to improve his technique at sliding over to keep his body in front.

Another benefit is when he pulls for run blocking. Defenders have to locate the ball-handler and, in many cases, quickly discern whether he has the ball or if it was a play-fake. A back getting in behind Allen would be essentially hidden from view for some defenders, giving him an advantage when he makes his cut or to sell his play-fake. Also, who is going to get in the way of Allen barrelling his way up the field looking for someone to shove?

At this point, the biggest concern is getting his hair into a helmet.
