Do the Cavs have the best center rotation in the NBA? Final Verdict

In the end, the decision comes down to the Timberwolves vs the Cavaliers. Robin Lopez is better than their smallball options, and Kevin Love is better than Naz Reid. Even with Mobley’s defensive versatility Karl-Anthony Towns is coming off of an All-NBA season and it’s amazing the things he can do to score a basketball as a big man.

Rudy Gobert is, essentially, the player Jarrett Allen is growing into. Gobert is a truly special player, not just among his peers but in NBA history, for being able to move so fluidly at his size, allowing him to rotate in a flash inside and to survive on the perimeter. With more defensive talent around him in Minnesota, he should have a year that proves how special he still is.

What is amazing for the Cavs is that the arrow is trending up. The Timberwolves might be better than the Cavs right now, but it’s close, and Gobert is 30 years old already. It’s not unreasonable to think hat in a year or two Allen will match Gobert, and Mobley will be a 20 percent worse offensive player than Towns and a 70 percent better defensive player. They are at the top of the league’s center rotations, and their two best players are both 24 and under.

RIght now, the Minnesota Timberwolves have the crown, but it’s a close race, and the development of Mobley could flip that as early as this season. Otherwise, there is no other team that can match the star power, depth and versatility of the Cavaliers’ center group. It’s easily the second-best center rotation in the entire NBA.
