Collin Sexton wants to get paid like a star. He wants to start, get a healthy number of shots, and help a team win by being an active part of the offensive attack. It’s possible that Sexton can find that opportunity, but it looks less and less likely it would come with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Cavs offered Sexton a three-year, $40 million deal. While a number of good players make a salary in that range, the kinds of players that Sexton compares himself to make significantly more. Therefore it makes sense for the Cavs and Sexton to explore sign and trade opportunities that could land Sexton more money and on a team that wants to showcase him more than the Cavs.

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Collin Sexton are far apart, so a sign and trade is possible. Would a deal with the Rockets for Eric Gordon work for the Cavs?

In that vein we have been looking at some of the opportunities that could be out there for Sexton, a team that benefits from bringing him on and can offer a trade to the Cavs that would make it worth their while. We looked at the Dallas Mavericks and Orlando Magic recently, and today we highlight an option first suggested by Dan Favale of the Hardwood Knocks podcast.

There could be other small pieces moving in the deal, but the essence is trading Sexton and a small deal, perhaps Dylan Windler, to the Houston Rockets for Eric Gordon. Does this potential trade make sense for all parties? Let’s break it down on-by-one and take a closer look.
