#3 – Collin Sexton

Just a couple of short years ago, we all would’ve had Collin Sexton penciled in as the outright, best player on the team for seasons to come. Now, he’s often overlooked when discussing the “young core” and might not even be on the team this next season, if he’s potentially traded. My oh my, how things have changed.

However, assuming Sexton re-signs with the Cavs eventually and comes back healthy, he is easily a top-three player on this team. He might even have a shot at reclaiming his position as the best player on the team by seasons end.

Collin Sexton was averaging 24.3 points per game on 47.5% shooting from the field and 37.1% from three just 15 months ago. Let us not forget that the guy can flat out score the basketball at an elite level. Heck, if the team’s record was a little better, he might have been an All-Star in 2021.

This is the kind of player some are writing off and ready to move on from. I’m not sure I’m ready for that conversation yet. Yes, I have him third on my list, but Collin Sexton has all of the potential in the world. He can still be at the forefront of a Cavs playoff surge.

Sexton is still a restricted free agent and things have been pretty quiet on both sides as of late it seems. If he were to re-sign and get back to the level he was at before he got hurt, he would provide the Cavs with the firepower they need to become serious contenders in the Eastern Conference.
