#2: Mobley continues to improve as a playmaker, and helps as an offensive hub at times

While it is fair to expect Mobley to take the next step with his scoring versatility and rebounding, another area to expect improvement in is his playmaking out of the post.

Mobley did dish out 174 assists last season (2.5 per game) and showed at times he could find the open man or make the right read off a double-team down low.

Mobley can take another step forward by being more consistent in his playmaking ability in the mid and feasibly low-post. The Cavaliers ran into trouble at times last season where the offense would stall if Garland wasn’t on the floor to initiate the offense.

Being able to throw the ball to Mobley and have him either get a basket or make a play for someone else by drawing the defense to him would improve the offense significantly, and we did see signs in that regard already. I’d just expect to see more of that next year with him more comfortable.

Expecting Mobley to average five or six assists a game next season is not realistic, but showing the ability to be the offensive hub at times would make the Cavaliers even tougher to defend.

While NBA rookies sometimes take a few years to get up to speed and show their potential, Mobley displayed right away he is going to be a difference-maker.

If he can make that leap this season and expand his overall game, there’s no doubt the Cavaliers will be in a better position because of it.
