#1: Mobley averages a double-double, and makes strides as a deep threat

The first realistic expectation for Mobley this upcoming season is a two-parter. First is averaging a double-double for the season and also becoming more of a threat from beyond the arc.

In Mobley’s rookie year, he recorded 20 double-doubles, and nine more times, he was just one rebound away from a double-double. In fairness to Mobley, he does play alongside Allen, who can be a rebounding machine himself, and Lauri Markkanen averaged nearly six rebounds per game last season.

But if Mobley can stay healthier this next season (he missed 13 games to injury), there’s a real chance he could hit that 10 rebounds per game mark. After all, Mobley did average 8.3 rebounds per game.

The scoring shouldn’t be a problem; if anything, that number should also go up. Mobley has an entire offseason to work on advancing his post game and also working on his outside shot.

Mobley didn’t attempt many three-point shots per game (1.3), and overall last season, he went 23-of-92 from beyond the arc. For a big man not known for his long-range shooting, hitting 25 percent of his three-point attempts was to be expected in Year 1.

Showing teams he can knock an outside shot will draw defenders out of the middle and allow other big men, such as Allen and Markkanen, to go to work on post-ups or cuts to the rim.

Mobley showed last season that he has a solid offensive game already. Still, after putting in the work this offseason to get stronger and work on some of the weaker areas of his offensive game, it is fair to expect a legitimate improvement in both areas mentioned above this season.
