Player No. 2: Monte Morris, G, Denver Nuggets

Morris would be another guard player that Cleveland could be interested in. Morris, who currently plays for the Denver Nuggets, had a nice previous season where he was the team’s starter and contributed nicely in the absence of the team’s normal starter Jamal Murray, who was out with injury. He averaged 12.6 points per game and dished out a consistent four to five assists a game.

In light of the Cavs’ guard rotation still being a bit of a mystery if the before-mentioned Sexton gets dealt, bringing in a player like Morris might be a nice move by the team. Cleveland could trade the 14th pick and center Moses Brown, to the Nuggets in exchange for the Nugget’s No. 21 pick and Morris. The Nuggets are looking to build their front court and Brown might be an intriguing addition to such a trade.

Morris also adds solid shooting to the team. He averaged 10 shots a game and knocked down 48% from the floor. Cleveland would benefit much by adding a more veteran presence to the current squad. The fact that Morris is comfortable coming into the starter’s role is helpful too.

The Nuggets will look to move Morris because of the return of Murray and the emergence of their newest rookie Bones Hyland as they try to duck the luxury tax for this season.

Player No. 3: Josh Hart, SF, G, Portland Trailblazers

Hart is a veteran player who has been on the move over his time in the league. In the most recent transaction, Hart was dealt to the Portland Trailblazers from the New Orleans Pelicans back in February. While he’s moved around a lot the small forward and shooting guard, who stands at 6’5, has been a steady go-to for teams needing a scorer.

With the Trailblazers he was averaging close to 20 points a game. In his five seasons in the league, he’s at 10 points a game and six rebounds per contest as well. While it might figure that a player like Hart might struggle with all his moves, he seems to be getting better nonetheless. Of his eight shots per game he took with Portland he was putting up six three-pointers and hitting them at a 37 percent clip.

The Trailblazers hold the No. 7 pick this year in the draft. They also have picks No. 46 and No. 59 in the second round. Cleveland might intrigue the Trailblazers to trade Hart and their No. 46 and 59 picks for that No. 14 pick and maybe a player like Cedi Osman or Moses Brown. The Trailblazers are in a reboot again and need help on the inside.
