Picks 11-13

11. New York Knicks: Jalen Duren, Center, Memphis (6’11”, 250 LBS)

12. Oklahoma City Thunder: AJ Griffin, Wing, Duke (6’6″, 222 LBS)

13. Charlotte Hornets: Ousmane Dieng, Forward, New Zealand Breakers (6’10”, 205 LBS)

This group of picks could really go in any direction. Starting with the Knicks at 11, I would say all three of these picks are available to the highest bidder. Most seemingly expect the Knicks to trade the 11th pick for an established player. But, if they do make the pick, Duren would be a nice replacement for Mitchell Robinson, who will most likely not be playing in New York next year.

Following the 11th selection, the Thunder could be looking to package this pick with OKC talent, and future assets, to get back up into the middle of the lottery. However, if they do make this pick, AJ Griffin would be a great pick. His knees likely scare a lot of teams, but he is one of the best, if not, the best shooter in the 2022 NBA Draft. Giddey and Gilgeous-Alexander would love setting him up on the outside.

The Hornets now have the 13th and 15th picks in the draft. Even still, I would be surprised if they keep them both. After firing James Borrego for not advancing past the play-in, it wouldn’t be smart to have a lot of rookies on the payroll. However, if they do make the pick at 13, Dieng is a great option. The Cavaliers and Koby Altman won’t be happy, but Dieng is a worthy gamble.

He didn’t measure in at the combine, but it has been speculated that he’s now 6’10”. He will need time to mature, but he has the frame to play in the league, even if he does need to bulk up a bit.
