5. Detroit Pistons: Bennedict Mathurin, Wing, Arizona (6’6″, 210 LBS)

6. Indiana Pacers: Keegan Murray, Forward, Iowa (6’8″, 225 LBS)

7. Portland Trail Blazers: Dyson Daniels, Guard, G-League Ignite (6’8″, 195 LBS)

8. New Orleans Pelicans: Shaedon Sharpe, Guard, Kentucky (6’6″, 200 LBS)

9. San Antonio Spurs: Jeremy Sochan, Forward, Baylor (6’9″, 230 LBS)

10. Washington Wizards: Johnny Davis, Guard, Wisconsin (6’6″, 196 LBS)

The 2022 draft class definitely drops off a bit after the first three picks. However, there are still a lot of good young prospects out there that can help a team in the long run. Starting with the fourth pick, we have the Kings. They traded away their 2020 first-round pick, Tyrese Haliburton, in a deadline deal for Pacers big man Domantas Sabonis. Sacramento also drafted Davion Mitchell, another guard, last year with their first pick. Despite that, Ivey is just too good to pass up.

His offensive arsenal is primed for the NBA game, and he offers some potential on the defensive end. The Kings may also be looking to trade the pick for an established star. Either way, Jaden Ivey will likely be the pick at four, no matter who’s picking.

Ivey coming off the board right before Detroit selects has to be brutal, but they move on and take Bennedict Mathurin out of Arizona. The 6’6″ wing has reportedly been very impressive in private workouts, and also in film sessions with his knowledge of the game. He’s going to be able to be very productive right off the bat, and he also has a lot of potential. He’s a great pickup for the Pistons and Cade Cunningham.

Next up are the Indiana Pacers, who will gladly take Keegan Murray out of Iowa. He’s a tall, versatile forward that can score from anywhere. He also fills in where Sabonis left off. Murray is one of the more NBA-ready prospects so it’s a great pickup for them.

The Trail Blazers are in a tough spot with the seventh pick. There are rumors they could be looking to trade it as well, for an established veteran. However, if they do end up drafting here, they need players that can contribute right away, but also offer huge upside down the line, when Damian Lillard has moved on. They pass on Sharpe, and take on another fast-rising player in Dyson Daniels. Offensively he will struggle in year one, but right away he can guard three positions well. He’s the best mix of NBA-ready with a lot of potential down the line.

Meanwhile, Sharpe, who hasn’t played a competitive game in at least a year, falls to eight, where the Pelicans are happy to swoop in. With Williamson coming back next year, New Orleans has a playoff roster, that is still young. Bringing in Sharpe gives them a chance to be good for years to come.

Finally, the Spurs surprise a lot and take Jeremy Sochan out of Baylor. He just turned 19 and is a menace on the defensive end. He can realistically guard all five positions, and has more playmaking ability than you’re led to believe. He will fit into the Gregg Popovich system very well.

Rounding out the top 10, is Johnny Davis who heads to Washington. There’s reportedly a decent chance that the Wizards trade this pick, but if they keep it, Davis would be a guy they would love. He would mesh well with the ball-dominant Bradley Beal. Also he will bring intensity to the defensive end.
