Looking back now

We figured this would be an appropriate time to remember those two performances in that pivotal Game 5 of the 2016 NBA Finals. While Draymond Green being suspended was a factor in the win, I don’t know if anyone in the NBA could have stopped Irving or James that night. Which also brings me to another topic which needs to be brought up.

Yes, Stephen Curry’s supporting cast during this current NBA Finals run has been less than fantastic. Curry is averaging a whopping 34 points per game, but Klay Thompson (17.3) and Draymond Green (4.3) have been very underwhelming. However, even shouldering most of the load for the Warriors this postseason, Curry is nowhere in the vicinity of LeBron James when talking about carrying a team on a playoff run.

On top of having Klay Thompson average over 17 points a game, Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole have also contributed heavily, scoring 16.5 and 12.5 points per game, respectively.

Now if you take a look at who LeBron had supporting him, he would have killed to have Curry’s supporting cast in that scenario.

So let’s pump the brakes on the Steph carrying his squad narrative for a second here, folks.
