Creating the Cavaliers’ perfect 2022 NBA Draft pick
Since the end of April, I’ve taken a look at at least 13 2022 NBA Draft prospects in our scouting reports. Guys like Johnny Davis, Bennedict Mathurin, and Malaki Branham put together great college seasons in 2021-2022. We pretty much know what they bring to the table right away, and any of the three could become instant impact players on the Cleveland Cavaliers next season. On the other end of the spectrum, after great combine performances, Jalen Williams and Dyson Daniels showed that they can have a good impact on a team next year, while also having a lot of upside.
Two weeks from now, we will know who the Cavaliers selected with their 14th pick. If they pick there at all, I might add.
A lot of the decisions the Cavalier front office will likely be somewhat easy considering that the teams above them in the draft will pretty much outline who the Cavaliers are able to draft with the 14th pick. But, while we’re still almost two weeks away from the draft, let’s go ahead and create the perfect draft prospect for the Cavs in the 2022 NBA Draft.
This will be pretty straight forward. However, because of the current Cavalier roster, they don’t desperately need rim protection, considering they have Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen to protect the paint. Therefore, adding Chet Holmgren’s arms, because of his shot-blocking, makes no sense when you could have A.J. Griffin’s arms instead, for his shooting.
If you look at what the Cavs need to add to take them over the top, shot-creation, outside shooting, and good defense, it makes the most sense to use mostly wings in the 2022 NBA Draft for this article.
Now that that is out of the way, it’s time to create the perfect draft prospect for the Cavaliers.
