NBA Draft Big Board 2.0: The Top 30 players in the draft
NBA Draft Big Board 2.0: No. 16-18
16. TyTy Washington, Guard, Kentucky
TyTy Washington was a highly heralded prospect coming into Kentucky and had something of an up-and-down season running the point for John Calipari. Not the greatest athlete, Washington already has a bag of tricks for burrowing his way through a defense to find openings for short jumpers and floaters. His outside shot was shaky on low volume, but the form looks good and he took mostly off-the-dribble 3-pointers. Defensively he has good length and should be a plus on that end, but the lack of athleticism means he won’t be a difference-maker.
17. E.J. Liddell, Forward, Ohio State
Much like Jaden Ivey, E.J. Liddell returned to school this season to improve specific areas of his game and returned great results, improving as a shooter and proving himself versatile in a variety of roles. He is strong enough to defend bigs and agile enough to defend on the perimeter with great help instincts and the hops to block shots at the rim. He won’t run an offense but he should be a quality off-ball shooter with enough playmaking skills to attack closeouts and find open teammates. He is unlikely to be a star, but he should be a versatile frontcourt player who helps good teams.
18. Ochai Agbaji, Wing, Kansas
The star of the season for the NCAA Champion Kansas Jayhawks, Ochai Agbaji developed from 3-and-D wing to on-ball maestro, running the offense and averaging 19.8 points per game. He is a streaky shooter but that trended up in his senior season. Defensively he is strong enough to defend forwards and he has a strong track record on that end in seasons where he is not carrying a huge offensive load; in the NBA he’ll have a lesser role, and the defense should be excellent.
