3 potential trades from Collin Sexton’s reported suitors: Indiana Pacers

The Indiana Pacers are undergoing a makeover, finally dipping deep into the lottery to make their first pick inside the Top 10 since the 1980s. After trading for Tyrese Haliburton at last year’s trade deadline the youth movement is fully underway for the Pacers, who may be looking for a dynamic  (young) scoring threat to pair with the long Haliburton in the backcourt.

If the Pacers do send a trade offer for Sexton they will suddenly be flush with on-ball guards, with TJ McConnell and Malcolm Brogdon on the roster and the Bird Rights to Ricky Rubio in hand. If they are open to trading the 29 year-old Brogdon, the salaries could line up for a one-for-one swap of the two guards.

The Cavs would be getting a steady two-way guard with the size at 6’5″ to play shooting guard next to Darius Garland and the chops to run the offense without Garland. He would fill that void of a secondary shot creator while also helping as a defender and passer. He averaged 18.9 points and 6.3 assists per game across three seasons in Indiana.

The Pacers would have a high-octane scoring threat that complements nicely with Haliburton, whose length would allow him to guard up and Sexton to stay with opposing point guards. Indiana might want some sort of small compensation coming back for Brogdon, but given his injury struggles his value may be low enough for this to work straight up.
