Any athlete at the highest levels of sports is usually trying to improve and prove to themselves and those that cheer them on that they are getting better. The Cleveland Cavaliers had a very young time last season and while they improved as a squad and got to within a game of the playoffs, finishing the season with a 44-38 record, all the players are focused this offseason to improve and make this team playoff ready next year.

While every Cavalier is working on their game, these following players are likely preparing to prove themselves in even bigger ways next season.

Three Cavs come to mind that have something to prove next season, to that point, and we’ll highlight those guys here.

Cavs player No. 1: Evan Mobley

The rookie from USC had a great season with the Cavs. Evan Mobley was robbed of the Rookie of the Year honors. Because of that, I believe Mobley will come back even stronger and more ready to prove to the rest of the league that not only should he have been ROY last season he’ll become an All-Star from this point forward.

Mobley couldn’t have done much more than he did over the course of the season. He was everything to this young Cavs team and made a huge difference in the team climbing into contention and now being a team on the rise. The team went from 22 wins the season before to 44 wins this season. Doubling up your win total is very impressive, and Mobley was in the middle of that resurgence.

Mobley will now go into next season ready to do battle with his outstanding defense and his offense will only get better as he settles into the league.
