Predicting what the Cavs’ 2022-23 season looks like
Potential wins
Chances are, some injuries will occur. Showing from this year, the Cavs have terrible luck when it comes to injuries, so that definitely skews some things when it comes to wins. Let’s just assume the Cavs will be mostly healthy next season, even though it’s practically impossible for that to happen. If that happens, I’d assume the win mark to be around 46 wins or up to 52 at the highest, if all goes well. However, I can also see a dropoff next season.
Both for the Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks, they had high expectations, considering they were the 5th and 4th seed, respectively. However, New York ended up as the 11th seed in the Eastern Conference and missed the play-in completely, while Atlanta barely made the playoffs as the 8th seed, so I can definitely see a realm where the Cavs aren’t as good as they were this year, but in my opinion, they should still a be a solid team. I can see any seeding from 9th to potentially 4th.
Like I mentioned earlier, the offense should be better next season, but their defense is where they should hang their hat on. J.B. Bickerstaff has molded this roster into a very gritty and tough team. I’d imagine Cleveland to be the same, if not a bit worse on defense next season, but also a bit better next season.
Overall
In my opinion, Cleveland should be a great defensive team and solid or average offensive team next season, and should at least make the play-in again. J.B. Bickerstaff will be regarded as one of the league’s best head coaches and Darius Garland will take another leap into a top tier of point guards.
Evan Mobley or Jarrett Allen should make an All-Defensive Team and maybe the All-Star team alongside Garland. Many more players will take notice on what a great up-and-coming team Cleveland is and more people will want to sign here to get in on the action that is the Cavs’ roster.
But hey, that’s just my opinion, maybe the season will go worse than I expected.
