3 teams that could trade for Collin Sexton: Sacramento Kings

The Sacramento Kings just got itself into a backcourt logjam, with too many small guards and not enough positional versatility to go around. They flipped Tyrese Haliburton for Domantas Sabonis in part for just this reason. Why would they turn around and trade for Collin Sexton, another small guard?

First, because they are the Kings and they have operated with fractured logic for years and years. Second, they don’t have a player in the mold of Sexton on the roster. His relentless attacking of the basket and shotmaking is something their current guards can’t replicate, and Sexton could be a viable third of a multi-faceted guard rotation with De’Aaron Fox and Davion Mitchell.

Perhaps the Kings send back a wing like Justin Holiday or Donte DiVincenzo, both players who could fill a role on the Cavs. They could also expand the deal out, with the Cavs floating another asset to the Kings in exchange for Harrison Barnes. Richaun Holmes is a distressed asset but would be buried on the Cavs.

The early signs are that the Cavs will come to an agreement with Collin Sexton and he will stay on the roster into next season at least. Yet if teams do come with offers, these are three who the Cavs can expect to talk to about their talented young guard.
