Collin Gillespie, Guard, Villanova

Before you ridicule me for putting an injury riddled, 22-year-old on my watch list, hear me out. No Gillespie is probably not going to be drafted. However, that doesn’t mean he isn’t a great basketball player, and would bring some value to a locker room. When you think of a Villanova point guard over the last six-seven years, Ryan Arcidiacono comes to mind, as does Scottie Reynolds. Neither were superstars in the NBA, but they are solid players. If you turn on the game tonight for one minute, you’ll understand his value.

He really is a true floor general. He knows the Villanova offense inside and out, and head coach Jay Wright uses that to his advantage. Gillespie is exceptionally crafty with his feet around the rim. The way he pivots and moves around defenders is very impressive. He’s not the fastest or most explosive player, but he hits shots when they need to be hit, and he makes sure his teammates are in the right places at the right time.

Houston is a very good team, and very physical. Gillespie will have to adapt to a little bit different type of playing syle, but I still expect a big game from him.

Well folks, I know all of you are Cavs fans, but we also only have two weekends left of college basketball this season. I don’t think anyone in the world would have predicted the Elite Eight we have in front of us. But, it has the makings to be a great two days of basketball watching.
