The Bucks are Cavs’ biggest rival for the next 5 years
By John Suchan
Who will be better over the next five years between the Cavs and Bucks?
That’s a good question. The Bucks have shown great resilience in returning to the playoffs over the past five seasons. They didn’t win the championship until last year. It seemed that the Bucks would always be a very good team but never capture that title. After going down in the championship series, a year ago 2-0 to the Phoenix Suns the Bucks made a stunning comeback and got that elusive title.
The Bucks will still be there every year and depending on how the ball bounces should be challenging for another title sometime in the next five seasons.
The Cavs are just learning how to win, a place they haven’t been in several seasons. Like the Suns, the Cavs don’t seem to need several more years to get to a Finals. Overall, the Cavs’ youth will make them better for a longer period. The Bucks will have aging parts moving forward. While Giannis Antetokounmpo will be the face of their team, he is also going to be 32 years old in five seasons. That’s not necessarily old in the league, but the Cavs players will all still only be in their mid 20’s.
The next five years and beyond should be some great basketball between these two Eastern Conference foes. Can the Cavs overtake the champs as soon as this playoff run or will they need to first win a few series in the playoffs over the next several years, before they can capture the crown?
The Bucks showed the rest of the league that teamwork and playing together as a group can make all the difference. The Cavs have one of the best upcoming teams that play together every night and it’s why these two teams will be challenging one another for a long time.
