#2: Should LeVert be a regular starter?

Yes, in both the short term and long term. In the game against the 76ers, LeVert didn’t get the start.  Neither did he in the game against his old team in the Pacers. However, he has been a regular starter in his career and was starting with the Pacers.

In the opening game for LeVert against his old team, he managed to close out the contest for the Cavaliers with three huge buckets. It was a great moment for him and the Cavs and showed just how clutch and experienced LeVert can be.

It was a bit of a surprise the next game that LeVert started the game on the bench. Dean Wade and Isaac Okoro are the two current starters, that I thought LeVert would have a chance to start in place of. When Cleveland got off to the slow start against Philly, LeVert went in for Wade in a very early substitution. I don’t understand why the Cavs head coach J.B. Bickerstaff wouldn’t have just started LeVert in the first place.

Now the question moving forward is who LeVert should replace in the starting rotation? Should it be Okoro or Wade? That’s a difficult question, because I believe with both players, if you insert LeVert in their place, the team will be a bit worse defensively. However, they’ll gain a better offensive threat and with the rash of slow starts, it would be good to give him a chance at starting.

Whatever the team decides, it’s more important to give LeVert the minutes he needs to get a better feel for the game. One can see what a valuable pickup he was for the team in how he was so clutch in that win on Friday against Indiana.
