3 ways Cavs trade acquisition Caris LeVert will help the team

#3: Cavs become more of a playoff contender
With the addition of LeVert, the Cavs, who are currently in fourth place in the Eastern Conference, have become an even stronger contender and could make a run at the championship.
The Cavaliers have been a pretty lousy team over the previous three seasons in the post-LeBron James years. That in itself has not given this franchise much to hang their hat on. So now that team has sprinted out to this nice position in the conference and has started to get some well-deserved attention especially from the rest of the league and a national audience, it’s more than just talk that the team will get to the playoffs and win as well.
If Cleveland can hold their spot in fourth or stay up in the third to fifth position, they will certainly get a favorable matchup to start the playoffs. If the playoffs started today the team would play either the Toronto Raptors as the three versus six matchups or if they were the four seed, it would be a matchup with the Philadelphia 76ers as the five seed.
LeVert has made it to the playoffs twice in his career, both times as a member of the Brooklyn Nets. Both series were losses for the Nets, but LeVert did everything he could to keep the Nets in the games. He scored in double figures in all nine playoff games he was in. In the first two games of the first-round series against the Toronto Raptors in the 2020 playoffs, he dished out a combined 26 assists.
Just knowing that he has the experience of being in playoff games will be a benefit to a young Cleveland roster. The defense gets stronger, and the stars of the game seem to make their presence felt when the playoffs begin. The Cavs haven’t won a playoff game yet and hopefully, they’ll get that chance soon.
Adding LeVert to the team is a huge win. He’s happy to be on the team and it gives this young Wine and Gold team more confidence moving forward.
