Cavs Trade Rumors: 4 teams, 4 Cedi Osman trade offers
The Cleveland Cavaliers are faced with a decision they haven’t faced in a long, long time: do they approach the NBA Trade Deadline as buyers adding to a contender, or as a rebuilding team with no need to rush? Even the trade rumors swirling around them straddle that line.
Their internal indecision means other teams in the league aren’t sure how to approach them. If they see a player on the Cavs they like, should they come with offers of young players and picks? Or should they offer veteran players? Are the Cavs even open to trading rotation players?
At least four NBA teams are reportedly interested in trading for Cedi Osman. What are some of the potential trade offers the Cavs could consider?
The surprising start for the Cavs has resulted in a number of players on their roster looking better than they did even as recently as this past offseason. Kevin Love looks like a valuable player, Isaac Okoro has reclaimed some of his value, and Lamar Stevens and Dean Wade have likely secured their place in this league for years to come.
One such player is Cedi Osman, the 6’7″ wing who has been with the Cavaliers for the past five seasons. Last year was the worst season of his career, riddled with injuries and ice-cold shooting. This year he has bounced back, finding his role as a bench gunner spacing the floor and surviving on defense.
Jake Fischer, the up-and-coming news breaker with Bleacher Report, reported last week that Osman is coveted by at least four teams: the San Antonio Spurs, Charlotte Hornets, Dallas Mavericks and Milwaukee Bucks. These teams are in a variety of phases from rebuilding to defending a title, and would surely offer a variety of packages for the Turkish wing.
What might these trade packages look like, and would they be enough to land Osman? Let’s look at four potential trades, but first we must ask the question: should the Cavs trade Cedi Osman at all?
