Wednesday night, Kevin Love continued his amazing resurgence this season as he came off the bench, dropping 25 points, including 14 points in an early first-half stretch. His play helped spark his young-yet-talented Cleveland Cavaliers bunch of teammates in another significant win on the season as they defeated the defending NBA champion Milwaukee Bucks 115-99 down at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse.

While the points were big in the first-half turnaround, where the Cavs were down at one point by 11 points, it was a charge he took defending Bucks big man Giannis Antetokounmpo that helped get the ball rolling and changed the game’s entire trajectory. Cleveland was struggling early but started to scrap their way back and after Love took that charge the Cavs finished going on a 33-20 run to build a 65-57 halftime lead.

That type of play has been common for Love all season long. If he’s not taking a charge on defense, he’s knocking down a three-pointer from beyond the arc. It’s this type of energy that is fueling this team and making them the best show in town. Cleveland stands in fourth place in the Eastern Conference with a 30-19 record on the season.

Kevin Love was brilliant again in Wednesday’s win over the Bucks, a trend for the veteran forward having his best season in years

Love finished the night going five-for-nine from the three-point range and 9-for-16 overall from the floor. He also recorded nine rebounds, dished out three assists, and forced two steals. He’s been having those types of stat lines all season long. There were several other huge performances by other Cavaliers on the night, including Cedi Osman, who also came off the bench, played 34 minutes, and knocked down 23 points in a scintillating output. Six Cleveland players finished with double figures on the night! That type of team effort gets the job done for this group.

Love has earned the nickname, “Uncle Kev” or some prefer “Grandpa Kev” recently because he’s the oldest player on the team, but that’s all the more reason to see how that experience and “elder-like” aura of Love is providing the necessary drive by the younger players. They’ve listened to their elder and are winning, in part, because of it.
