Examining role for potential Cavs trade target Cam Reddish
Potential Cavs lineups featuring Reddish
As of now, Reddish has played in a total of 32 games this season, with an average of 12.7 points per game to go with 2.6 rebounds. If Cleveland brings in Reddish during the latter half of the season, it would likely mean they have moved on from Isaac Okoro or Collin Sexton. Given Sexton’s season-ending injury earlier this year, it would only make sense that Okoro would be the target Atlanta has their eyes set on.
Assuming the Cavs would be willing to part ways with one of Isaac Okoro, or Collin Sexton, well then Reddish would likely be utilized as an interchangeable swingman, switching between the two and the three.
One potential lineup the Cavs could run would look like – Garland, Reddish, Lauri Markkanen, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen. With DG running the point, and Reddish alongside him – Cleveland could have a decent backcourt on their hands while Sexton is in recovery mode, provided he weren’t dealt and re-signed.
Additionally, the defensive coverage provided by Mobley and Allen would allow for Reddish to expand his game more. The young wing could work at becoming more consistent in his shot, with a star-caliber facilitator like Garland at the helm, in tandem with a formidable frontcourt in Allen and Mobley.
Alternatively, the Cavs may see Reddish as a valuable piece to the bench unit. A trio of Rajon Rondo (if he’s back), Kevin Love and Reddish off the bench would make for some exciting basketball. While Ricky Rubio is certainly going to be missed after his season-ending injury, the newest Cavalier Rajon Rondo could help step up with him out. Cleveland could make use of Reddish’s energy and use him in a sixth man role alongside two seasoned NBA veterans.
