Cavs’ Kevin Love is making strong case for Sixth Man of the Year

When this season started, the expectation for forward Kevin Love was very low from Cleveland Cavaliers fans. After all, the former All-Star was coming off the bench this year for a team that had minimal expectations as a whole.

After a 114-101 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers, the Cavs currently hold a 22-17 record. This puts them at sixth in the Eastern Conference, 5.5 games behind the first-place Chicago Bulls. The team is still in the running for the playoffs, and Love is averaging 14.5 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists off the bench. This all in only 21.8 minutes a night.

What Kevin Love provides is the leadership and guidance that he has from his many years of experience. It simply goes to show how much better the Cavaliers are because of his presence.

In regards to NBA Sixth Man of the Year, Love with have to battle with the likes of other players such as Tyler Herro, Carmelo Anthony, LaMarcus Aldridge, Anfernee Simons and others.

Overall, this Cavs team continues to surprise us all with their performance. Kevin Love is a big part of that and he has helped players on this team become an intricate part of the improvement overall, and he’s making a legit Sixth Man of the Year case.

Love is making a strong case for Sixth Man of the Year, and his presence has truly been invaluable for the Cavs.

It’ll be really exciting to see how the team continues to develop over time and if the coveted award ends up being granted to Kevin Love, who, thanks to a red-hot December, is now shooting 42.6 percent from three on the year. And in his last 15 games, 13 of which he’s come off the bench, Love has had 18.5 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists per outing, and has connected on 47.8 percent of his three-point attempts.

Along with the on-floor impact, young players on the Cavs such as Evan Mobley and still Lauri Markkanen should seek guidance from the former UCLA Bruin. Love can help these players continue to develop over time on a professional front. That’ll help them continue to become even greater as a member of the Wine and Gold.

It’s what cannot necessary be shown with professional statistics, but it is so crucial to the team doing even better. Obviously, something is working with these Cavaliers very much in the hunt for the postseason when that wasn’t expected at all to start the season. The excitement is amazing for sure…

Hopefully, whomever the voters for the Sixth Man of the Year award recognize what Love has done in order to help improve the team and how much better the Cavaliers are because of his presence here in Cleveland.

Well, we will have to wait and see when the decision is made. Additionally, if these Cavaliers are able to battle it out for a playoff spot, that’d go a long way, given how young this team still is.

Even if this year isn’t a winning season ultimately, it’s certainly a step in the right direction and the Cavs could be in a great spot for the future, all thanks to the assistance of future Sixth Man of the Year, Kevin Love. He has rebounded in a big way from largely a rough past few seasons.
