One stud and one dud for Cavs in loss to Grizzlies on Tuesday
Cavs stud: Jarrett Allen
Looking back on the James Harden trade deal involving the Cavaliers, it’s crazy how big of a steal center Jarrett Allen has become. Allen was looked at as just one of the players added to the deal to compensate each team involved. In all reality, the best player right now from that trade is Allen himself.
Last night he notched another double-double, dropping 22 points, and grabbing 12 rebounds. His season averages in points per game and rebounds per game are at 17.1 and 10.7, respectively.
Tuesday night was another great game for the former Texas Longhorn. He made his impact felt early in the game, when he swatted away a Jaren Jackson Jr. layup attempt in the opening minutes. He and rookie Evan Mobley have formed one of the most formidable frontcourts in the entire league. Last night in particular, Allen swatted away three shots alone.
Once again, Allen was the best player on the court at times on Tuesday night, and as long as he continues to improve on the offensive end, he could end being the biggest contributor from the James Harden trade in 2021.
