
The Cleveland Cavaliers have received coal in their stocking the past few Christmas seasons. In response for four years of plenty with LeBron James they had three years of famine, with 22 wins last season the high water mark for a franchise that has looked lost without one singular point forward from Akron.
This season is different. The Cavs are doing things the right way, pairing their own young draft picks with solid veterans and a few reclamation projects. They have been wildly successful, with 19 wins through 32 games and underlying metrics that suggest this team is for real.
The Cavs have much to be thankful for as Christmas approaches. What more could they ask for this holiday season?
One could say that Christmas came in July for the Cavs, when they drafted Evan Mobley and traded an expiring contract and a second-round pick for Ricky Rubio. Even so, that’s no reason not to make a request this holiday season as well. What Christmas gifts would the Cavs like to receive?
Just like the six-year-old kid who writes “a car” on his Christmas list, we need to set the right expectations. We also aren’t going to ask for socks, either. What realistic but exciting gifts would the Cleveland Cavaliers like to receive this Christmas?
