Cavs: 3 big questions for team off to their best start in years
By John Suchan
Question 3: Will the Cavs be affected by the absence of Collin Sexton?
With Cavs starting shooting guard Collin Sexton being sidelined for a while due to his recent knee injury, how will the team react and will it affect them continuing to win?
Sexton’s numbers were down this season along with his minutes because the team has been playing bench stud Ricky Rubio a whole heck of a lot, which seems to be a good formula for winning of late. But now with this extended time out, and Sexton’s scoring ability vanished from the Cavs box scores, how will Cleveland maintain its current winning path? In the game on Wednesday, wing Isaac Okoro got back from his injury and provided some nice minutes, though he didn’t score much.
Other bench players like forwards Cedi Osman and Dylan Windler can both contribute to the scoring too as they have already. Osman played 28 minutes in the loss to the Wizards but only scored nine points. He’s had more in previous games during the win streak from a week ago. The Wine and Gold will definitely need Osman to score more.
Cavs other big men like Lauri Markkanen and Kevin Love should be returning from their COVID-19 protocols pretty soon too and will definitely help out make up for Sexton’s scoring abilities. It’ll take a team effort but the Cavs seem to have a very capable group of players that can overcome obstacles.
Here’s to a speedy recovery for Sexton.
