The Cleveland Cavaliers are brimming with excitement at the gallant young swordsman who is capturing the attention of the nation and the hearts of Forest City. The Cavs have not had a rookie this tantalizing since Kyrie Irving, which is funny because he could not have played any differently than Evan Mobley.

Irving was flashy and fast, darting into the lane and finishing with English off the glass. He translated his early success into a spot in the Rising Stars Game, when he dazzled the crowds and planted his flag as a future star. Could Mobley also appear in All-Star Weekend, not as a rising star but as an arrived All-Star?

Evan Mobley has had an impressive start to his career. Will that be enough to put him in the All-Star conversation?

The Cavs have not had an All-Star since LeBron James and Kevin Love in 2017-18, the third-longest drought in the NBA. Only the Memphis Grizzlies (2017) and Sacramento Kings (2016) have gone longer, and Memphis at least looks poised to break that streak this season.

Can Mobley step up to the plate and bring an All-Star appearance back to Cleveland? That’s both metaphorically as a representation of the city but also literally, as Cleveland is hosting the 2022 NBA All-Star Game this season. Will Mobley be suiting up?
