The Cleveland Cavaliers are set to tip off their 2021-22 regular season coming up here in a week on Oct. 20 at the Memphis Grizzlies. I couldn’t be more excited to see how things get going for this Wine and Gold team, which while still young, has its share of up-and-coming talent, and Collin Sexton, Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen and others will be fun to watch.

The Cavaliers do have a tough stretch of games in the early going, though, and a road trip out West is not an easy task in the beginning of the campaign.

Veterans such as trade acquisition Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love, even with both in a bench role, can make a difference, and should help, on a positive note, and sign-and-trade acquisition Lauri Markkanen can in that way, I’d assume, also.

That said, while the regular season is around the corner here, Cleveland has had most of its preseason slate before, with one more game at the Indiana Pacers to wrap things up on Friday yet. It is preseason, sure, which is typically a way to get some others involved, and things have been fairly mixed for the Cavs.

Cleveland was blown out by the Chicago Bulls in their preseason opener last Tuesday and picked up a win over a very shorthanded Atlanta Hawks team last Wednesday, for context. The Cavaliers have shown some good stuff overall in some respects, though, and in the last two games, even with L’s to Indiana on Friday and a really close one to Chicago on Sunday, they have started to figure it out and build some chemistry in relation to new pieces.

So to that point, who have been some players that have stood out in preseason on the Cavs, then?

We’ll get into that here, and highlight the Cavs top three standout performers from preseason.

We’ll start off with #3.
