The rankings are flawed, but that’s the point

Whenever anyone releases a list of the top players in any sport or league, it’s going to get people talking. I don’t think any two basketball fans agree on exactly the same things, so there will always be an argument to be had.

As I’ve stated before, I don’t love Collin Sexton, but he’s a much better player than Ball. Now, yes, Ball had a down year last year? Of course he did. Even he’d tell you that he should be averaging more than 5.7 assists per game, and shooting better than 41 percent. However, that’s why there will be another list next year. And of course, the same arguments will happen.

But, as a Cavs fan, and a pretty even-keeled NBA fan, Allen’s ranking on this list would be perfect if Lonzo Ball were not ahead of him.

Other than that I have no real gripes. Well, I do. How is Ja Morant not in the top 5 of this list? When did OG Anunoby become an elite wing player? However, that’s all for another time and place.

For right now, though, compared to where the Cavaliers have been the last couple of years? Two players making this list a step in the right direction.
