Gary Trent Jr. has found his groove with the Toronto Raptors, but he’s also had health issues

I don’t have a major issue with Trent Jr. being ranked ahead of Sexton. If he was not on the Toronto Raptors, I doubt he’d even be on this list. However, he’s found a great fit in Toronto. Even still, the main issue with ranking him ahead of Sexton is that he has been nagged with injuries since he came into the NBA.

In five seasons in the NBA, five seasons, he’s played in 134 total games. That’s insane for a player ranking so high on this list. Sexton had already played in more games during his second year at the All-Star break. If Gary Trent Jr. is healthy for a full season, I would agree he’s better than Sexton. He just can’t seem to stay on the court, though.

In the end I’m very, very surpised by some of the players ranked above Sexton. Sure, Sexton’s playing style isn’t ideal, and he needs to get a lot better on the defensive end. But, he is the guy on the Cavaliers by necessity, and he rarely misses games. Other than Haliburton, the other three ranked above Sexton have missed a lot of time due to injury during their career.

At some point, availability becomes a sort-of talent, and in that respect, the other three don’t have it. Collin Sexton does.
