Cavs: Full roster of players – Roster Locks

Kevin Pangos (PG)

Kevin Pangos was a standout point guard for the Gonzaga Bulldogs before graduating and heading overseas to play professionally. He played in Spain, Lithuania and Russia from 2015 through this past summer, accumulating a variety of accolades including the All-EuroLeague First Team this year. He comes in as the team’s third point guard, with a chance to prove himself the long-term backup for next season.

Brodric Thomas (SG)

The rare player to make his way into the NBA world via a D-II school, Thomas starred for Truman State University. After he was unsurprisingly undrafted he earned his way onto a two-way contract for the Houston Rockets in 2020. When he was waived in February of 2021 the Cavs signed him to a two-way contract, and he is set to return in the same manner for the team next year.

Dean Wade (PF)

“Next man up” was the name of the game for Dean Wade last year, as the former Kansas State big went from two-way contract to a full contract, then from benchwarmer to rotation player to occasional starter. He is a good defender and good-enough shooter, which makes him a valuable player to plug into games when needed.

Cedi Osman (SF)

The Turkish wing Cedi Osman was on a trajectory growing into a solid rotation wing when he suddenly took a major step backwards last year. Was it a one-year blip? Then Osman should prove himself as the backup 3 on the roster. If it’s indicative of an ongoing trend then he will be marginalized in the rotation as Lamar Stevens and Dylan Windler fill up the minutes off the bench.
