Other notable prospects to watch for the Cavs

Caleb Houstan

Another high school player going to play for a head coach who was an NBA player. Houstan, a Montverde player, will play his college ball at Michigan for Juwan Howard. The 6-foot-8 wing player also reclassified to the 2021 class.

Houstan really has a great feel for the game, which is rare for a player of his age. On top of that, he’s a willing passer, with a great shot. He isn’t the threat that Baldwin Jr. is behind the arc, but he’s up there. On top of that he’s a very good ball-handler, that has made his game more creative as he’s gotten older.

Playing for Howard should only raise his draft stock. Watching Houstan play at Michigan, should be very close to must-watch television for Cavs fans.

Dyson Daniels

Daniels, who is Australian, is one of the many players in recent years who have come from “down under” to play in the NBA. Daniels will play next year with the G-League Ignite and Jaden Hardy.

Daniels is 6-foot-6 and has great handles when he has the rock. He’s a solid shooter, who is also a stat stuffer. As is the case with most Australian players, he is very unselfish and a great passer. On top of that he’s already a good defender, who could become a great one if he puts the effort into it. This is a player who might skyrocket up draft boards playing in the G-League.

But, he could also fail to impress, which means the Cavs could find him later in the first round if they have a better season than expected this upcoming year.

Jean Montero

Montero might be the most explosive player in this 2022 NBA Draft class. The 6-foot-2 guard has a crazy quick first step, and is a terrific facilitator. Montero will be playing in the Overtime Elite league this upcoming season.

For a point guard, he has it all. He’s crafty with the ball in his hands, he has excellent range, and always finds a way to make plays. If the Cavs were to move on from Collin Sexton, then Montero could fit in alongside Darius Garland. Montero could operate the offense while Garland gets to his favorite spots. He’s definitely a player to watch in the Overtime League this season.
